During the online certificate enrollment process you will need to select the web server software platform which you are using. The selection does not in anyway affect the format of the Certificate issued, as this is only a data field which we use for informational and statistical purposes.
For technical reasons, platforms listed are set as either re-signable or non-resignable on our system. This means that certain platforms will require a new CSR upon renewal while others enable the existing CSR to be re-signed, in which case the new certificate, once issued, will only work on the private key file that was used to create the CSR originally submitted to Thawte.
Important Note: Before renewing the certificate for any of the server software platforms which are designated as re-signable, please check with your server administrator or technical contact, or if you are hosted, with your web hosting company (ISP) and ensure that they still have the private key file for the expiring certificate.
